Post-apocalyptic Thriller Only Envisions a World Without Women (out March 6th)!

Only is a sci-fi feature from director Takashi Doscher (Still). This post-apocalyptic thriller focuses on a couple, trying to survive in a deteriorating landscape. Making matters worse, Eva is the last woman alive, after an ash has devastated the planet. Now, both Eva (Freida Pinto) and Will (Leslie Odom Jr.) are heading for the wilderness, in an attempt to hide from the world. A trailer for Only was just released in February. And, this title is expected to show in a few theatres and on Digital platforms this March 6th. Chandler Riggs ("The Walking Dead") also stars, with this article serving as your gentle reminder that a post-apocalyptic thriller is releasing this week, a bit under-the-radar.

Director Doscher has mentioned that he bases the writing of his films on a central emotion. Plot is secondary as Doscher explains: "I always start with a core emotion, a core theme, and normally echo something that is going on in my personal life (BGN)." Doscher found himself changing on a camping trip: "in this case, when the film was conceived I was on a camping trip with my wife. While she’s a very strong, independent woman, when we were at this rural campsite, I began posturing and became a little bit more protective of her." When the world changes as it is now with the Coronavirus, how will people respond and act? This is an age old question often asked in post-apocalyptic films, like Doscher's latest - Only.

Vertical Entertainment is handling the release of Only. Those in the U.S. can find the film in a few theatres, this March 6th and on Digital platforms, as well. The film is reminiscent of a few others, like Alfonso CuarĂ³n's Children of Men (2006), in which the film envisions a world without kids. Others have mentioned the "The Handmaid's Tale," but Only brings something a bit unique and exciting to the screen, this week!
