The Boy Takes a Seat in Victoria, B.C. Travels to England in this Creepy First Trailer

It is almost embarrassing to learn that another horror film was shot in this film critic's home town, of Victoria, B.C. and to not have heard anything about the production, until now. The Boy was shot in Victoria between March and April, of 2015. The settings are hard to identify. But, it is clear that some exterior shooting took place at Craigdarroch Castle. A quick shot at :40 clearly identifies the structure, which was built in 1890; it is now a National Historic Site of Canada. As well, the film was produced by studio Lakeshore Entertainment and Vertigo Entertainment. The film stars Lauren Cohan of "The Walking Dead" fame, with William Brent Bell (The Devil Inside) directing. A trailer for The Boy is available here.

The film is set in England, not Canada. In a small English village, a wealthy couple leaves behind their 8 year old son, which is a porcelain doll. The sitter is understandably creeped out and the sitter seeks out answers from the local grocer. But, this curse would best be left alone.

The film is slated for theatres in January. STX Entertainment will release the film in the USA, with Entertainment One holding Canadian distribution rights. Fans of haunted house thrillers will want to take a look at the film, which offers lots of darkened 19th Century halls and hideaways. More on the film is hosted below.
