Brian T. Jaynes is Sure to Underwhelm in The Underneath September 17th, 2013

This website was created several years ago to promote indie horror titles. But, every so often, a potential, terrible movie will come along; and then, this site acts more as a warning for horror fans. Brian T. Jaynes is probably this critic's least favourite director, in horror (and Larry Fessenden this critic's favourite). Jaynes has continued to create uninspiring and lackluster titles, for several years now.

The first film this reviewer saw, by Jaynes, was Boggy Creek (2010). This film was a non-event, with very little happening in the film's eighty-seven minute run time (Boggy Creek Review). This film fan mistakenly believed that Jaynes would improve in his next title, Humans Versus Zombies (2011). Instead, the script for Humans Versus Zombies was very messy and the conclusion was an add-on (Humans Versus Zombies Review). Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. This film fanatic no longer reviews Jaynes' work, especially after watching the horribly shot and mediocre zombie film Patient Zero (2012). This director is almost always attached to poorly developed indie horror titles.

His latest is titled The Underneath. Based on the promotional material, the film is unusually similar to Neil Marshall's stellar film, The Descent (2005). Both films deal with characters trapped far below ground, with monsters trailing their every move. The Descent and The Underneath also use claustrophobic spaces to amplify tension. But, this film fan is almost guaranteeing an uneventful time in the newer film, The Underneath. This film will, likely, begin robbing people of their hard earned money September 17th, 2013, on various formats.

Horror fans can preview The Underneath, below and make their own conclusions. But, this film fans' mind has already been made up on Jaynes' work, a long time ago.
