Here is a Look Ahead to 2011 and Over Thirty-Five Upcoming Horror Films!

There are lots of films to get excited about, if you are horror fan in 2011. There will surely be hundreds of horror and thriller releases in 2011, with several more planned for 2012 and 2013. Here on 28DLA, we offer a solid intro' on what to expect from the coming year, as directors Eli Roth, Wes Craven, John Carpenter, J.J. Abrams bring new films, including Scream 4, Fangland, Thanksgiving, and Super 8. Also, the After Dark Originals will release early in the New Year and fans of horror sequels e.g. Hostel III, Jeepers Creepers: Cathedral will be able to whet their appetites with several follow ups to successful film franchises, here.

So, step inside this huge list of horror films, which focuses on over thirty of the biggest productions and a few indies, as well. Let us begin with this horror list for 2011 (titles listed alphabetically)!

51 by Jason Connery.

Status: Completed.

Release Date: January, 2011.

Budget: $1 million.

Cast: Bruce Boxleitner, Jason London, Rachel Miner, Vanessa Branch, John Shea, Jillian Batherson, and Beau Brasso.

Synopsis: "Long the basis for conspiracy and conjecture the secretive American air force base known as Area 51 is about to get its first civilian visitors. Fangland by John Carpenter

Cast: Hilary Swank.

Synopsis: "A New York-based producer who travels to Romania for an interview with a notorious European arms dealer, who turns out to be a modern-day Dracula" (Collider).

Fertile Ground by Adam Gierasch.

Cast: Gale Harold, Leisha Hailey, Jami Bassman, Ingrid Coree, Steve Janoussek, JoNell Kennedy, and James Stordahl.

Synopsis: "This is the tale of a young couple who escape the city and return to place where they seek only to find peace and reinvigoration. A rural haven in which there was once an ancestral family connection but where today an ancient evil instead resides. Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral by Victor Salva.

Status: In Development.

Release Date: 2011-2012.

Cast: Gina Philips, Jonathan Breck, Ray Wise, Luke Edwards, Brandon Smith, Marieh Delfino, Lo Bosworth and Kevon Kane.

Synopsis: "The film will begin with a prologue set in the Old West, giving a back-story on what The Creeper (Jonathan Breck) really is, who he was and how he came to be the Creeper. Flash forwarding to 2024, 23 years after the first and second films, Trish Jenner (Gina Philips) is suffering from horrible nightmares. She fears that her son will suffer a similar fate as her brother Darry. Teaming up with Jack Taggart Jr. and Sr., Trish looks to take down The Creeper for the last time" (Wikipedia).

*The film studio producing this title, MGM, announced bankruptcy in November, 2010. So, this film might be pushed back to 2012.

Killing Pablo by Jo Carnahan.

Release Date: 2011.

Cast: Edgar Ramirez, and Christian Bale.

Synopsis: "The true story of how the Colombian gangster and terrorist, Pablo Escobar, was assassinated and his Medellin cocaine cartel dismantled by US Army Delta Force and intelligence operatives, the Colombian military, and a vigilante gang controlled by the Cali cartel" (Wiki).

Synopsis: "The ghost-infested interior of a disused prison provides the playing field for The Task, a televised show that sets the premise for this horrifying new slant on reality television. Release Date: 2011-2012.

Likely cast: Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abagail Breslin.

Also upcoming in 2012, Frankenweenie will be directed by Tim Burton and Ghostbusters 3 will be made. The former is a remake and the second film will bring back many members of the original cast, including: Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson.
