Actor Mem Ferda Talks of His Role in England's Most Brutal Crime Thriller - The Crew

The Crew is an action thriller, which was released in North America late in 2009, based on the novel "Outlaws" by author Kevin Sampson. The film reveals the seedy Liverpool underworld and the criminals who inhabit it. The Crew stars Stephen Graham ("London Boulevard"), Scot Williams (Dead Man Running), Mem Ferda (Legacy) and Rory McCann. Now that the film has been released and distributed, actor and villain Ferda is able to talk about his role as Dusan in this production. From Film File a German online magazine, Ferda states that becoming the antagonist in a thriller is actually very easy: "playing villains is fun. It can be a form of therapy for the innate evil that is within us all."

Empire magazine has described the film as "an intense thriller," and from Ferda he describes his character as "a guy with serious issues" (Film File). Criticized for its brutal violence and graphic portrayal of criminal life, Ferda laughs off the critics "the vast majority of reviews...have said it is the best British crime thriller to have come out in the last decade" (Film File). The Crew is now available to fans on both DVD and Blu-ray, with a trailer also inside.

The synopsis for The Crew here:

"Inhabiting Liverpool's violent and seedy underworld, The Crew follows a gang of hardened criminals out for that ever-tempting 'one last heist'. Led by brothers Ged and Ratter, the gang's future hangs in the balance as Ged wants out of the criminal lifestyle while Ratter is keen to branch out into the more lucrative drugs trade. Knowing that he needs his brother in order to pull off the impending heist, Ratter goes along with Ged though he secretly plans to ditch him at the first opportunity. Ged, meanwhile, must summon all of his killer instinct and friends in low places if he is to come out of this alive. Based on the novel 'Outlaws' by Kevin Sampson, The Crew is a typically gritty British thriller that shoots first and asks questions later" (Film File).
