Michael Allen
Overture Films has produced one of the latest films from director John Curran entitled Stone. The film stars Robert De Niro (Goodfellas), Edward Norton (The Incredible Hulk), and Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil). This is Curran's second film with Norton, with The Painted Veil the pair's first collaboration. Stone was completed last year in Michigan and the film will have a release later this year (October 8th). The first trailer is below for this thriller, which shows Jovovich's character, Lucetta, seducing a parole officer in order to have her husband released early. Have a watch inside.
The synopsis for Stone here:
"A seasoned corrections official and a scheming inmate lives become dangerously intertwined in Stone. As parole officer Jack Mabry (De Niro) counts the days toward a quiet retirement, he is asked to review the case of Gerald "Stone" Creeson (Norton), in prison for covering up the murder of his grandparents with a fire. Now eligible for early release, Stone needs to convince Jack he has reformed, but his attempts to influence the older man's decision have profound and unexpected effects on them both.
The parallel journeys of two men grapple with dark impulses, as the line between lawman and lawbreaker becomes precariously thin. Milla Jovovich plays Lucetta, Stone's sexy, casually amoral wife, and Frances Conroy as Madylyn, Jack's devout, long-suffering spouse. Set against the quiet desperation of an economically ravaged community and the stifling brutality of a maximum security prison, this tale of passion, betrayal and corruption examines the fractured lives of two volatile men breaking from their troubled pasts to face uncertain futures" (Trailer).
