Director Nick Lyon (Isle of the Dead, 2016) has set his date with destruction. Shockwave: Countdown to Disaster releases this week, through Video-on-demand. The film involves a Doomsday device and seismic shifts. Stars in the film include: Rib Hillis (Haunting of the Innocent), Stacey Oristano (“Sons of the Devil”), Bruce Thomas (Army of Darkness), and Ed Amatrudo. Partially produced by Autumn Federici, this title was developed by MarVista. A preview of the film's launch, this week, is hosted here.
The official synopsis mentions volcanic storms. They are developing below. And, geophysicist Kate Ferris (Oristano) must warn others, of the impending horror. But, no one wants to listen as the Earth begins to shake.
Director Lyon has something to say about the complexities of shooting a disaster film. He says of his experience: "working on a disaster genre film is always one of the toughest things to do in film in my opinion, especially low budget film where resources are limited…[however] it was possible because of a great writer, producer, cast and crew who were all very supportive in entrusting the vision I had." That vision can be seen in the trailer below as the film nears its August 29th release date.
