The Purge: Election Year Promises A Wild Ride Through 12 Hours of Lawlessness in this First Trailer

Director James DeMonaco returns to The Purge franchise, with The Purge: Election Year. This is the third film in the series, with the first films launched in 2013 and 2014. This time, events take place in Washington, D.C. and the character Leo aka Sergeant (Frank Grillo) returns! Also, actress Elizabeth Mitchell stars as a prominent senator. This senator tries to eradicate the purge, or twelve hours of complete lawlessness and immunity from any criminal prosecution. But, an upper echelon of politicians have their own plans for Charlie. Now, the film's first trailer is available here and it offers lots of masked foes.

For more on the story, Leo has survived one purge and he is set to endure another. Now tasked with the security of a controversial senator, Leo must do his best to help Charlie survive the night. However, the New Founders of America have hired a huge army of mercenaries to assassinate the senator. Can this pair survive these deadly odds?

The trailer begins fifteen years in the past. It shows Charlie's history, involving the purge and a family tragedy. Moving to the present, the clip then shows the looming conflict, involving political views on the purge. All hell breaks loose in the final few moments of this exciting trailer.
