Killers Appear in the Darkness in this Preview for White Settlers: First Trailer

White Settlers is an indie horror film from the United Kingdom. This title was shot in Manchester and White Settlers will have its World Premiere in London, at the Film4 Frightfest; this film festival begins in August. White Settlers involves a British couple hunted by a group of masked men, in the Scottish Highlands. A trailer for the film is available here.

The story begins with light tones. Ed (Lee Williams) and Sarah (Pollyanna McIntosh) enjoy their new home and the challenges it brings. But, challenges of another kind creep up in the local countryside. Masked men emerge from all around. Now, Ed and Sarah will receive their welcome basket, which is full of torture and mutilation.

Animal masked killers seem to be the order of the day. After the release of Adam Wingard's You're Next (2011), there are a few films that have been influenced by this film. Jordan Baker used bunny and mouse styled masks in his feature Torment (2014). Now, White Settlers is hiding its villains behind similarly styled masks. And, this kind of costume is reminiscent of Paganism, in which wearers would try to draw the power of animal in the mask they wore. The bloody power of the killers can be seen in the trailer below.

Release Date: August, 2014 (World Premiere).

Director: Simeon Halligan.

Writer: Ian Fenton.

Cast: Pollyanna McIntosh, Lee Williams, Joanne Mitchell and James McCreadie.
