Being Held Hostage: A New Indie Film Production

Producer: Robert Gordon Spencer.

Director/writer: Mike Yurinko.

Cast: Holt Boggs (left).

Actor turned producer Robert Gordon Spencer (Deadtime Stories, "Law & Order") is testing his chops in the making of Hostage, a thriller about a man, Eugene (Holt Boggs, "The Prodigy"), trapped in his vacation cabin. He's snowbound and the winter landscape hints at more than just him going up against Mother Nature. He soon discovers that he is not alone.

The mystery on what that terror is will be the draw. Spencer believes this movie will not be a typical horror genre film. "We have our twists," teases Spencer, "The script depends on the shock, thrill and drama of the reason on why Eugene is trapped."

Shooting is slated to start December so accurate outdoorsy set pieces are used. With another name like Michael J. Yurinko (Fading) to direct and write this independent film, Hostage will depend on more than just the traditional fear of the unknown to invoke the terror.

"The rattle of the ice machine, the AC cutting on suddenly—while this is not even close to the subject matter of the film—I was constantly startled as I read through the screenplay," says Spencer, "since leaving the military, where I served as a combat medic and Army Officer, I can assure you very few things have startled me over the years."

Spencer has faith this movie will offer plenty of thought provoking terror. He reveals that a lot of it will come through with Bogg's performance and that is a huge onus on the actor to make sure this film delivers.

“We anticipate a premier on August 16, 2012," says Spencer.

Early theatrical distribution will be limited. Plans on a North American DVD release are still being negotiated.
