A Shocking Visual Reality in EA Digital Illusions' Trailer for Battlefield 3 ("Tank Battle")

There is one consistency developing at the E3 Gaming Expo this year and that element is shocking believability. The gameplay from the trailers showing at the E3 repeatedly show real environments and immersive situations, which continue to blow this game player away. Battlefield 3, the follow-up to 2005's Battlefield 2, is no different. Recently, a gameplay trailer was released for this title by Electronic Arts and EA Digital Illusions.

In the clip below, you can see the pixelated scenes created by Digital Illusions, as Tank Gunner Miller engages an opposing force of armored units. A-10 Warthogs strafe the enemy personnel, while the player uses infrared to locate enemy units. The reel is about 10 minutes long and gamers can preview one of the most anticipated games, now at the E3, in the trailer below. Enjoy the clip and remind yourself that Battlefield 3 is only a game, as this part time gamer had to.

"In the first part of the campaign, the player will take on the role of Staff Sergeant Henry 'Black' Blackburn, a member of the United States Marine Corps stationed along the Iran/Iraq border. An earthquake hits the region, though its total effect is unknown. SSgt Blackburn leads a five-man squad on a mission to locate, find and safely return a US squad investigating a possible chemical weapons site, whose last known position was in a 'bad f*&^ing part of town" when they lost contact. They are assisted by other U.S. Marines, but earthquakes and the Iraqi-Iranian allied army (also known as "Peoples Liberation Resistance" or PLR) stand in their way" (EA).
