The Latin Horror Film Festival Begins May 3rd with Six Short Film Entries ("Le Miroir," "Waffle," "Welcome Home")

The Latin Horror Film Festival is an annual event that celebrates the best in filmmaking. This event takes place Tuesday, May 3rd in New York City and all fans of the genre are invited to attend. Showing this year are the following films: Alex Lugone's period piece "The Devil's Toy", the grief fueled "Welcome Home", the mysterious "Mama", the re-animated "sHELL", the disturbingly pleasant "Waffle", and the vain "Le Miroir", from director Sebastien Roggisnol. Each of these films are under twenty minutes long, with a feature length film set to end the night (to be announced). If you are in the New York City area this month, then check out the festival. The synopsis for "The Devil's Toy" is here:

"Two young boys are about to discover the mystery behind a jack-in-the-box recovered 65 years ago from a Nazi concentration camp" (Latin).

The "Welcome Home" plotline:

"A young woman - Sarah - running away from a devastating loss, moves as far away from her reality, and finds a home amongst unseen strangers, who welcome her with open arms" (Latin).

A synopsis for "Mama" is here:

"Litle Victoria is waken up by her sister Lili who insists on leaving the house because somebody unpleasant has come back."

And "sHELL's" synopsis:

"Grieving over his lover's death, Simon's life has come to a crashing halt. Until her voice calls to him from beyond the grave, whispering 'murder...murder...', and Simon must discover the killer's identity before he becomes the next victim."

A closer look at "Waffle":

"A disfigured science fair champion invites her new friend over for dinner, but by the time dessert comes around, the two schoolmates will discover each other's true unpleasant natures."

"Deeply disfigured in a car crash, a movie star leaves a plastic surgery hospital after her surgeons have attempted to restore her famous beauty. Trying to escape the mass media pressure, she retreats to a secret family manor near the ocean, where her outer- and inner-beauty is challenged by unimaginable forces.
