Three New Horrifying Movie Clips for The Rite and a Demonic Poster

The possession styled thriller entitled The Rite will release in theatres shortly (January 28th). And now there is a new film poster for the film from either New Line Cinemas, or Warner Bros. Entertainment, or both. This graphic is full of Christian iconography e.g. the nails from the crucifixion and an upside down cross. Also, this poster alludes to the fact that Anthony Hopkin's character Father Lucas might be working for the darker side of spirituality (seen center).

28DLA writer Ed Sum has previously noted that this film is an adaptation of Matt Baglio's novel The Making of a Modern Day Exorcist and the television spots hosted below, show the difficulties of exorcising personal and external demons. There are three clips below and the third reel is the most interesting as Father Lucas battles his own looming possession. More details on The Rite are below.

The synopsis for The Rite is here:

"Inspired by true events, follows a skeptical seminary student Michael (Colin O'Donoghue) who reluctantly attends an exorcism school at the Vatican. While there, he meets an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas, who introduces him to a darker side of his faith" (28DLA).

Release Date: January 28th, 2011 (Theatrical).

Director: Mikael Hafstrom.

Writers: Michael Petroni, and Matt Baglio.

Cast: CiarĂ¡n Hinds, Alice Braga, Rutger Hauer, and Toby Jones.

The first television spot is titled "Save Your Soul:"

This movie clip is titled "Everything:"

This clip is called "Face Evil," and Father Lucas struggles to do just that:
