Mother's Day Invites a Family Reunion and Murder in these Movie Stills

Mother's Day recently signed a distribution deal with Gigapix to show in up to 1500 theatres throughout 2011 (UHM). This is of course a remake of Charle's Kaufman's film of the same name and released in 1980, which involved rape, murder and two mommy's boys trying to impress their demented matriarch. The remake has been directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who is best known for his work on the Saw series and the film will stay with the torturous themes. Have a look at two stills from the film until more news develops on this Twisted Pictures production.

The synopsis for Mother's Day is here:

"A bank robbery has gone wrong and three brothers head for home, hoping their Mother (Rebecca De Mornay) can provide them with a getaway. The youngest brother, Johnny (Matt O'Leary), has been shot and their back-stabbing former partner has gotten away with all the cash.

But when the brothers get home, they find that all their stuff is gone and Mother is nowhere to be found: she lost the house months ago in a foreclosure. The new owners, Beth and Daniel Sohapi (Jaime King and Frank Grillo) and their guests, have gathered for an ill-timed birthday party. They become the brothers' unwitting hostages!

Soon, Mother arrives, along with the boys' sister Lydia (Deborah Ann Woll), and it soon becomes clear that Mother will do absolutely anything to protect her children. In one terrifying evening, she brilliantly takes control of the situation and masterminds her sons' escape from the law" (UHM).
