The Ring Three in Negotiations for Cast and Crew

Fearnet is announcing that the Ring 3 will be in 3D with a launch date scheduled for 2011 (Fearnet). This third film will be a prequel and show Samara locked in a "psychotic unit" where her murderous revenge is plotted (IMDB). Cast and crew negotiations are ongoing, but news site IMDB is reporting that director Hideo Nakata (The Ring 2) will be returning for this sequel. See the full story from Fearnet inside.

"Set 30 years before the original, The Ring Three sees a young Samara Morgan cast away to a psychotic unit, thrust away from normality. Mentally unstable and in-animate, Samra vows to get revenge on her tormentors before she is tragically killed and dispersed down a well, however, unbeknown to her twisted parents and local pretty-girl Mary-Elizabeth Winstead, a curse is about to be born, a curse which will later claim many lives, as the vengeful spirit of Samara is born" (IMDB).
