Excision to Save a Life: A Short Film Review

Director: Richard Bates Jr.

Writer: Richard Bates Jr.

Would you take a life to save the life of someone you love? This is the central moral dilemma that Pauline (Tessa Ferrer) faces, as her sister Grace (Carly Hobson) slowly succumbs to cystic fibrosis. A horror short that clocks in at eighteen minutes, it is no surprise why Excision has won at least twenty-four awards.

An excellent performance from Tessa Ferrer and the other minor characters, the story, execution, and denouement (conclusion) of Excision are near flawless. Currently in the film festival circuit Excision must be seen by horror fans! Check out the website of the film for film festival screenings, often!

Acting/believability/characterizations: 7.5.
Story/writing/plot: 8.
Conclusion/editing/continuity: 8.

Overall: 7.75 Bulging Eyes out of 10 (wow).
