Remake radar alert as the newest "Stepfather" takes elements of the previous two and introduces a little more suspense in this feature film that releases in theatres this October 16. From director Nelson McCormick the announced cast thus far is Dylan Walsh, Sela Ward, and Penn Badgley who act as the central family in the midst of a potential serial killer. The synopsis for "Stepfather..."
"Michael Harding (Penn Badgley) returns home from military school to find his mother (Sela Ward) happily in love and living with her new boyfriend, David (Dylan Walsh). As the two men get to know each other, Michael becomes more and more suspicious of the man who is always there with a helpful hand. Is he really the man of her dreams or could David be hiding a dark side (Trailer)?"

It looks quite good, I like the bit at the end of the trailer with the buzzsaw.

They gave away many of the surprises in that trailer. The film looks generic.
