Don't Leave Home is an upcoming Irish, horror film. Recently premiering at the SXSW Film Festival, this title is moving to Digital platforms, thanks to Cranked Up Films. In this title, an artist receives a hefty commission. Out in the Irish countryside, Melanie learns that an ancient legend may now be living within a painting. Don't Leave Home was directed and written by Michael Tully. As well, the film stars: Anna Margaret Hollyman as central character Melanie, along with: Mark Lawrence, Helena Bereen, Karrie Cox and Lalor Roddy. This supernatural title is expected to release this September. Several stills, from this intriguing title, are hosted here.

The film's urban legend involves the portrait of a young girl. Her image vanished from the painting and so did the girl. Now, Melanie is summoned to the Irish countryside, for some portrait art of her own. Alone in a remote Irish estate, Melanie cannot escape what these folks have in store for her.

A few early reviews have come out of the South-by-Southwest premiere. At the Roger Ebert website, reviewer Brian Tallerico mentioned the slow, plodding pace: "Tully has an intriguing concept and a fantastic final scene, but he didn’t flesh out the movie between the credits." More action was required early in the film as noted by a few critics. As well, the Hollywood Outsider notes the minimalistic nature within Don't Leave Home: "minimal dialogue leads this drudgery until the last twenty minutes or so when most of the loose ends are tied up or explained." Indie horror fans should expect a more austere film landscape, within Don't Leave Home.

Cranked Up Films will release this title, in the U.S.A. The release has been scheduled for September 14th. On this date, Don't Leave Home will be available on Digital platforms and in some theatres. This Irish shot feature (County Kildare) does bring some great atmosphere to the screen as seen in these early stills and the complex film poster.
