The Countdown Begins on Justin Dec's Latest (Out Jan. 7th!)

Tagline: "Death? There is an App for That."

Universal Pictures Home Ent. will show Justin Dec's Countdown on home entertainment platforms, soon. The release will take place in early January on various formats. Rated PG-13, this horror title focuses on a killer app', that can determine when the user will die. When a young nurse is told she has three days to live, she must find a way to avoid the unavoidable. Dec's first feature film stars: Jordan Calloway ("ER"), P.J. Byrne (The Wolf of Wall Street), Talitha Bateman and Peter Facinelli. A look-ahead to the film's impending release are hosted here.

Dec has talked about the film and its themes. At Collider, Dec said of the story: “what’s this movie about? What does this mean? If you take away the magic of it all, it’s a story about death...it’s a story about how people cope with death. And if you found out you were going to die, what would your priorities be?” Well, your priorities would probably not be showing up for work, for the week. Dec also mentions that the film is about our growing addiction to technology: “I want it to be there in the subtext. I didn’t just want to say our phones are killing us — a lack of balance is what’s killing us.” Technology continues to creep into everyone's life. And, Dec's first feature will cover all of these topics and more.

Countdown will show on home entertainment platforms on January 7th. On this date, Countdown will be available on most Digital platforms. After this release, this title will show on DVD and Blu-ray this January 21st. The Blu-ray will be a combo pack, which includes a DVD and Digital copy of the film. Though, special features are light on the hard copy versions, with nothing announced yet. Fans of horror or thrillers can mark this one down on their calendar, now!

Release Date: January 7th, 2020 (Digital) and January 21st, 2020 (DVD, Blu-ray).
