The Cleaning Lady Wants to Dust-off Your DVD Player this June 4th

The Cleaning Lady is the latest upcoming release from director Jon Knautz (Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer). Both Knautz and central actress Alexis Kendra have worked on the previous film Goddess of Love, from 2015. Their latest collaboration involves a brutally burned and scarred woman, who struggles with life and work. Her desire for a normal life makes her turn on her beautiful employer. The film also stars: Rachel Alig (At Granny's House) and Stelio Savante (Starship Troopers 3: Marauder). As well, this title had its World Premiere, in 2018, at London's Frightfest. Now, RLJ Entertainment is set to release the film on home entertainment formats this Summer.

Director Knautz has talked about the film a number of times. He says of horror and his use of female protagonists: "in general I tend to enjoy female protagonists in horror films more the men...this [film[ just happens to be a story that focuses on two women, one who’s obsessed with the other (EyeforFilm)." Some of that conflict, between female characters, can be seen in the film's latest trailer (below). The two main female characters are also very opposite to each other: "it was important to me that Alice and Shelly were polar opposites in every way. Alice represents everything Shelly would have dreamed of having, but Shelly is someone who’s essentially lost interest in her own life and is vicariously living through others." The Cleaning Lady is a film about jealousy and resentment, with Shelly determined to have that what she cannot - a normal life.

RLJ Entertainment will release the film on June 4th. The initial release will take place on DVD and Digital formats, in an unrated format. The film is 90 minutes long. And, the official DVD artwork is available here (above). Fans of indie horror film will want to look out for this one, with Knautz a burgeoning master of the thriller genre.
