Sci-fi Thriller I Am Mother Creates an Apocalyptic Scenario in this First Trailer

Tagline: "She'll Keep You Safe."

I Am Mother is an upcoming sci-fi thriller, slated to show on Netflix. The film has been developed in Australia, by first time feature film director Grant Sputore and writer Michael Lloyd Green. Set in a possible future, the Earth has been destroyed and corrupted. All that remains is robotic work force and military, until a child is birthed from a frozen fetus; the result is expectedly dire. I Am Mother stars Oscar winner Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby), along with Rose Byrne (Neighbors) and Clara Ruggard. Now, a trailer is available here, ahead of the film's Summer release.

The trailer for I Am Mother is a long one and shows many of the film's plot points. So, you may want to watch the clip with one eye and the volume muted. The trailer shows one character, known as Daughter (Ruggard), brought to life. She is served by a robotic master. But, how could a robot teach empathy, if it has no emotions? Another, human character enters an underground bunker, known only as the Woman (Swank). She knows more about robots and their intentions, than the naive girl. And, both the human world collide with a robotic one, again. This conflict might be the last one humans ever face, in this apocalyptic scenario.

I Am Mother was developed and shot in Australia, partially by Adelaide Studios. Set to release on June 7th through this streaming service, Netflix continues to bring more cerebral films to its platforms and I Am Mother is going on this film fan's calendar.
