Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Draws a Long Shadow in this First Teaser Trailer

Two television spots were released for the horror anthology Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, earlier this year. Now, a teaser trailer is available. The clip shows more of the monsters, in the film and more of the scenarios. This film is based on Alvin Schwartz's series of novels and the film will cover a number of his written works. As well, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is being directed by Norwegian filmmaker André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Done), with Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth) directing. The latest film clip is here.

A longer synopsis has also been released. The blurb mentions that this is 1968 America. In the small town of Mill Valley, the shadow of the Bellows family still looms above the town. Now, some of the horrors of Mill Valley are being revealed in an old tome, found by a group of teenagers.

Finally, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will have an August release, in theatres, across North America. Lionsgate and CBS Films will handle the release on August 9th. More release details are below.
