Well Go USA Returns to Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum for More Scares on Blu-ray and DVD (September 18th)

Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum is a found footage styled horror film. Released earlier this year on Digital platforms, Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum is a Korean film, from director Beom-sik Jeong (Horror Stories, 2013). In the film, a crew shoots in one the world's most haunted locations. A place of torture, these filmmakers will never be seen again. Now, Well Go USA will release the film, on home entertainment formats, this month (DVD, Blu-ray). Release details on Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum are hosted here, before next week's release.

The home entertainment artwork and trailer show the film's central setting. A multi-level, concrete block - this asylum was rumoured to use torture on its many inmates. Illegal experiments were also performed on some of the patients, supposedly. Now, this broken down, industrial building is the center piece of new horrors.

As well, a number of early reviews have mostly been positive. Richard Gray, of Reel Bits, mentions that Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum stands out in the found footage horror genre: "[this is] just one of the reasons it stands out in a crowded marketplace of [Blair Witch] imitators." The found footage, horror film market is loaded with these films - to stand out is very difficult. Meanwhile, Ian Jane (RockShockPop) talks about the the film's many effective twists: "some of this found footage film’s twists are about as subtle as a slap in the face, just as many of them are quite effective." A horror film should never be boring. And, Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum is sure to be one of this year's strongest found footage outings.

This film's release will be in an unrated format. As well, the runtime is 95 minutes. The Blu-ray release will host two discs, one a DVD version. Special features are limited to a trailer.
