The School is an upcoming horror film, from Australia. Developed by director Storm Ashwood, this title is getting set to have its World Premiere, in late July. Also written by Tessa Alana, this award winning feature involves a young son, a coma and one mother's desire to rescue him. Her journey leads her into a purgatory, where children rule her son's imagination. The School stars Megan Drury (Braille, 2009), Nicholas Hope ("Jade of Death"), Will McDonald and Jack Ruwald. A new trailer has been released, for The School, and this longer clip can be found below.
The trailer shows some of the film's settings and characters. Reminiscent of Tarsem Singh's visual and colourful work (The Cell, The Fall), the clip shows all sorts of strange images and situations. Will Amy (Drury) ever be able to find her son? She will have to journey through hell and back, just to find him.
Of interest, The School was filmed at the Gladesville Mental Asylum. Built in the 1830s, this asylum is the oldest one, in Australia. As well, over a thousand former patients have been buried on the hospital's grounds. This location is sure to hold all sorts of spirits and some of those ghosts can be seen in the film's latest trailer, below.
The School will have its World Premiere at the Monster Fest Travelling Sideshow; this event takes place in Adelaide. On July 27th, the film will play for audiences. The film will have a larger theatrical run, within Australia, through Rialto Distribution. This title has not officially announced release dates in other territories. Though, based on the promotional material, The School is sure to show at a theatre near you, later this year.
