The Soska Sister's Rabid Adds Laura Vandervoort to the Cast

Film Mode Entertainment has cast Laura Vandervoort (Jigsaw), for their film Rabid. Rabid is a remake of David Cronenberg's 1977 film, in which a woman is involved in a brutal accident. Her treatment leads to an unfortunate transformation, that spreads throughout the city. The remake also features directors: Jen Soska (American Mary, 2012) and Sylvia Soska. John Serge (Dead on Campus, 2015) is co-writer on the script. Currently in pre-production, Rabid has already secured distribution in several countries.

From the Film Mode Ent. website, the story involves the spread of an infection. A model is disfigured in a horrendous traffic accident. Surgeons use a stem cell treatment, to facilitate healing. However, this experimental treatment has unintended consequences. Now, a contagion is spreading through sexual contact, with victims acting out violently and randomly.

Rabid is already set to show across the world. The film will be distributed by 101 Films in the United Kingdom. In Canada, A71 will handle the release. More territories will show the film as Film Mode Ent. shops the film across the world. All of the latest details, on Rabid, are hosted here.

Release Date: TBA.

This film fan always remembers Cronenberg's artwork for the original as being truly terrifying and thus the film being unrentable (on Blu-ray, a re-release):
