There Can be Only One: The Final Girls First Trailer

Tyler Shields' Final Girl (2015) was released earlier this year. Now, The Final Girls is getting set to see theatres, this October. Filmmakers have noted how characters, of a certain gender, tend to survive horror films. This horror fan noticed just such an occurrence recently, with Christopher Denman's Preservation (2015). It is the norm for men to get chewed up by the killer and for the young woman to survive; it is almost laughable in its repetition. Now, a trailer for The Final Girls has released. The clip laughs at tropes as characters try to survive a Jason-like, masked villain.

Camp Bloodbath could easily be Camp Crystal Lake. Here, several friends are transported into an '80s film and they must do their best to survive. Meanwhile, the protagonist (Max, Taissa Farmiga) interacts with her deceased mother, leading to all sorts of strange and humorous scenarios. Will this group of slasher film fans survive into the final credits?

The trailer for The Final Girls blends humour with horror. This style of filmmaking has been successful with films like Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. But, this time, the characters are not their own worst enemy. Instead, they must resist the temptation of sex and booze, unless they want to end up as mere bloodspray. The clip is a fun watch and horror fans can find it inside.

Release Date: October 9th, 2015 (Theatrical).

Director: Todd Strauss-Schulson.

Writers: M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller.

Cast: Nina Dobrev, Taissa Farmiga and Alexander Ludwig.

The first trailer for the film is available here:
