"State Zero" Reduces Stockholm to Rubble in this Exciting Short Film

"State Zero" is a post-apocalyptic film from Sweden. The film was shown at Quiet Earth, yesterday and this film fan noticed it on his Youtube feed. Officially released in March of 2015, within Sweden, the short film shows a four man combat team, attempting to fix a transmitter and surveillance tower. However, clever "freaks" look to intervene. Fans of science fiction or PA thrillers can view the entire film, here.

From the official synopsis, Sweden has turned into a wasteland. Cities lay in ruin and scientists perform illicit experiments. Those who venture into urban areas must be prepared to face the horrifying results of those experiments. And, a journey into Zone 3 is a one-way trip, for most.

Director Andree Wallin has worked on other sci-fi thrillers. He has worked on concept art for Oblivion (2013) and on two of the upcoming Star Wars (Star Wars: Episode VII) films. His first feature shows a strong visual style and a focus on mood and dark settings. Though, the film's narrative struggles to find a relevant message. The antagonists act inconsistently and the book-ending feels slightly flat as one CGI created villain shows sentiency, but very little else. Still, fans of both horror and science fiction can view the entire film below and come up with their own interpretations and criticisms.

Director/writer: Andree Wallin.
