The Purge: Anarchy Pulls Back the Curtain with this Second Trailer

A second trailer for The Purge: Anarchy has been released. Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions have released this extended clip, which focuses on the character Leo (Frank Grillo). Leo is seeking revenge for the death of his son, in a previous purge. Fans of thrillers can view the trailer below and the clip leaves little of the plot in mystery, which is a strange marketing strategy.

For more on the story, Shane (Zach Gilford) and Liz (Kiele Sanchez) are stuck in the Purge. The Purge is a 12 hour hold on the criminalizing of violent acts. This young couple must navigate through a criminal wasteland, where murder and rape are rampant.

The trailer, itself, seems like a mini-film. Shown chronologically, the second trailer reveals major plot elements, including: the rescue of characters, the capture of characters, a secret murderous organization and a Running Man-like competition (to the death). Little imagination is required to determine what will happen in this sequel, which releases July 18th, 2014 in theatres. The full clip is below.

Release Date: July 18th (US, Canada, Theatrical) and July 25th, 2014 (UK, Theatrical).

Director/writer: James DeMonaco.

Cast: Frank Grillo, Michael K. Williams, Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez and Carmen Ejogo.
