Guillermo del Toro's The Strain Casts Darkness Across NYC in this First Official Teaser

The Center for Disease Control is getting very busy in science fiction television lately. They are forefront in SyFy's series "Helix." Now, they will be drawing battle lines in Guillermo del Toro's "The Strain." This latest fictional series is based on del Toro's book trilogy and this vampiric series is set to launch this summer. As well, "The Strain" stars David Bradley ("Game of Thrones"), Kevin Durand (Fruitvale Station), Mia Maestro ("Alias"), Jonathan Hyde (Titanic), Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings), Richard Sammel (Inglourious Basterds), Doug Jones (Hellboy), and Robert Maillet (Pacific Rim). Now, an official teaser trailer is available for the show.

The series follows Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and his research on a vampiric plague. This plague is going global and few survive when darkness falls. Set in New York City, several researchers will have to find a cure for this spreading virus.

"The Strain" launches this summer and a second clip for the series is available. The clip shows darkness descending on New York City. The city becomes quiet as electricity fails and survivors look for cover. More on the series will be announced as the series gets ready to premiere.
