Director Steven R. Monroe Returns to Familiar and Brutal Themes in I Spit on Your Grave 2: First Trailer

Anchor Bay Films and Cinetel Films will release the rape revenge thriller I Spit on Your Grave 2 this September. Horror fans will remember that director Steven R. Monroe remade, or re-envisioned the 1978 film I Spit on Your Grave in 2010. The remake starred Sarah Butler as Jennifer, a woman who seeks justice after a vicious attack. Monroe returns to the material with a supposed sequel; yet, none of the characters and actors from the 2010 film are returning. And, the protagonist has been changed from Jennifer to Jessica. So, is this really a sequel?

The film's story sounds vaguely familiar. This time, Jessica (Jemma Dallender) is raped, tortured, kidnapped and taken to a foreign country. Here, she is buried alive and left for dead. But, this is not where the story ends. Jessica returns from the grave to exact her revenge.

This reviewer enjoyed the 2010 remake and a review of that title can be found here: I Spit On Your Grave (2010) Review. Monroe has a talent for capture torture and violence onscreen, in a brutal fashion. And, horror fans will find some of that style returning in the trailer for I Spit On Your Grave 2, below.
