Actors Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey to Star in The Purge

Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey are set to start in the upcoming thriller The Purge. Originally titled Vigilandia, The Purge has an interesting premise. In the film's story, America is plagued by crime and "overcrowded prisons." So, citizens are allowed to act out their murderous impulses once a year. For 12 hours, anyone can commit any act without fear of repercussions. And, the police will not intervene.

Surely, riots would ensue and fans of dark thrillers can view the film's early concept poster above. The hatchet signals that some people will not be willing to get along with others. More cast and crew details are below, along with a release date.

Release Date: May 31, 2013 (Theatrical).
