Black and African Diamonds: A Movie Review

*full disclosure: a screener of this film was provided by Phase 4 Films.

Director: Pierre Laffargue.

Writers: Lucio Mad, Gabor Rassov, Marci Cherqui, and Pierre Laffargue.

Black was a French film then dubbed into English, which is slated for released through video-on-demand September 1st. The film begins as an action thriller, but transitions into a heist thriller early. Black has played at several film festivals since 2009 and Pierre Laffargue's first feature film is enjoyable for its dabbling into African mysticism and European colonialism. Black's ending, with a Snake man facing a Lion man, truly has to be seen to be believed.

Black (MC Jean Gab'1), the protagonist, begins the film with a failed armoured car cash grab. Instead of grabbing the loot, Black loses his partners while escaping by train. Then, the film changes locale. Gone is Paris in favour of Dakar. Here a massive holding of diamonds is flaunted in front of a bank manager, who then tells the locals about the latest deposit. Soon several groups are organizing themselves to lift the goods, including Black and his team of part-time criminals. The heist and escape is full of explosions and mercenaries, while the film makes a late attempt at showing Africa's mystical roots.

Africa seems to be one of the few continents where travelling by armed convoy is an expectation and a rite of passage. One of the arms dealers does just that, while tracking down Black. Black now has the diamonds after a snatch and grab. His cousin pulls a double-cross, but is then taken out of the picture by an Interpol agent. Other double crossings and double dealings take place, as Black cozies up with Pamela (Carole Karemara), the previously mentioned agent. Viewers will get a sense that this is a standard heist thriller, but Laffargue has at least one other trick up his sleeve.

Black takes a sharp turn in the final act. Instead of the usual confrontation with the antagonist, there is a pause and exploration of African witchcraft. Degrand (Francois Levantal) has been seduced by a local African priestess, who is slowly turning this arms dealer into a human snake. This is no joke. Degrand sports scales and spits acid. On the other front, Black and Pamela have been placed in a giant wooden mixing bowl which has aroused their inner animal spirits. Together, as lion and panther, this romantic pair enters the pit of snakes for a final battle at night and in animal character. These final scenes were a great addition by Laffargue, who seems to be exploring messages of French colonial, with the inclusion of so many white villains and the topic of racism. There is also surrealism in the final chapter.

To release September 1st, Black is a film that will be enjoyed by fans of unique heist thrillers. The backdrop of Senegal for the film was a fine film element, while the dubbing rarely distracts. The acting is excellent and so is the action. The late risk of introducing African mysticism is welcomed and hopefully, film fans will find room for this great title in their film collections.

Overall: 7.75 out of 10 (great characters, lots of action, complex twists and double-dealings).

*the film will be available on various movie film channels.

**actor MC Jean Gab'1 was also in another French thriller titled Seuls Two.

Kantz Sells His Post Apocalypse Vision - Wasteland to Cinema Epoch (DVD Preview)

Wasteland is a film from director Kantz, which is reminiscent of the '80s post apocalyptic films of old. In the '80s there seemed to be this focus on a destroyed and dangerous landscapes as seen in films like

With Wasteland, global catastrophes come about through environmental hazards e.g. pollutants, overpopulation. In this devolving landscape "religious zealots" fight against a group of cannibals and mutants for survival. Pollution are the cause of mutations and societal collapse "chemicals pumped into the environment have caused the ecosystem to fail and collapse." Full of action and adventure, between a desperate hero and the end of the world, Wasteland will be released by Cinema Epoch on DVD October 11th. Indie Thriller Alert: Death of the Virgin Begins September 21st (Trailer)

Indican Pictures, a distribution housed based in Hollywood, is set to deliver their latest thriller, Death of the Virgin. This title was shot in Italy by Joseph Tito, a Roman born director. Death of the Virgin releases on DVD September 21st and the film involves a young women, May (Natasha Allan) preparing for the nunnery. However, strange visions haunt her involving blood tears, impalings and gore. It seems the 16th Century religious painter Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio is haunting her.

Carvaggio was an actual Italian painter who was more known for his brawling and aggression than his artwork. Carvaggio is remembered for walking about Rome with a sword and a servant attacking those who got in his way. With a price on his head, Carvaggio fled to neighbouring Italian cities, where he himself was attacked in an assassination attempt. He would die a year later. His paintings and work in the arts would be forgotten, in a time of artistic renaissance. In Death of the Virgin, Carvaggio plays a supernatural antagonist, whose misdeeds continue into the present. The Repeater Mixes Mercenaries with the Mexican Mob: Luke Goss to Star

Maya Entertainment has also started production on the crime thriller The Repeater. This title stars Luke Goss (Death Race 2), Bai Ling (Locked Down) and action star Gary Daniels (The Expendables). The film is currently in pre-production, so details are limited. However, a concept poster is available, which features Goss and the tagline: "Find, Kill...Repeat." As well, the film deals with a criminal underworld in Mexico and a mercenary for hire, who must face "the most feared man in the world" (Maya Entertainment).

Unbelievably, actor Luke Goss found his first big break in show business with the British Pop Music world, where he charted at least thirteen singles. This band was formed with his brother, Matt Goss before disbanding over contract disputes with their management. Then, Goss transitioned to stage acting in the play "Grease," in London, England. Cinema awaited. Blade II (2002) would be one of his first roles, before showing in Frankenstein (2005) and later in Bone Dry (2007), as the condemned Eddie. Other achievements include handling production on Universal Picture's Death Race sci-fi series of films, with more than a half dozen other films currently in production. Luke Goss is a serious force in the arts, with his transition from London to Los Angeles only heightening his popularity. Have a look at Goss' latest below, with The Repeater here and inside.

Wreckage and Filmmaking Without Scripts: A Movie Review

Director: John Mallory Asher.

Writers: David Frigerio.

Wreckage is a film that feels like the film crew drove up to a set and said: "hey, let's shoot," without a script. Unbelievably released in the United Kingdom on DVD August 23rd, Wreckage is a dismal, dismal film that is full of continuity errors, overly long and boring credit shots and characters who could never actually be police officers. This title was released by Chelsea Films and Wreckage stars Aaron Paul ("Breaking Bad") and Scott McNairy (Monsters). Everyone else is forgettable. Full of writing errors, a lackadaisical approach to filmmaking, and uncompelling storytelling, Wreckage is best avoided. If only you could go back in time to get your money back.

An eight year old kills his mom and his mom's drug dealing boyfriend. Strangely, this infant is sentenced to life in prison. This reviewer is not a justice student, but generally children are not sentenced to life in prison, surely! Has the scriptwriter, David Frigerio, never heard of juvenile detention or rehabilitation? The writing errors start early and soon, four youths are drag racing on an open stretch of highway, fifteen years later. They lose to a garish looking sports car, after their fan belt breaks. A one mile trip to the junkyard changes the afternoon sun to dark midnight. Huh? That continuity error aside, guns are shot off and characters disappear. The hero, Jared (Mike Erwin), heads off to town, like a diligent Lassie. However, the town's sheriff department is full of mentally deficient Barney Fife wannabes. Meanwhile, the convicted eight year old has escaped and murders begin to happen. Cue terrified face.

Wreckage is not satisfying on so many levels. Firstly, the film is not even ninety minutes, the bare minimum for a film to be seen as a feature. Instead, the film clocks in at an uninspiring seventy-eight minutes. As well, the filmmakers cannot decide if this is a horror comedy in the vein of Tucker & Dale vs Evil, or a straight-laced slasher. The genres are fumbled with, as McNairy plays an inbred junkyard owner trying to pull off comedy? Other characters struggle with their motivations. The lead sheriff (Roger Parry) is actually almost eighty years old in real life and he is outmatched by a constantly barking and annoying Erwin, as Jared. Some tense moments do develop with a car crusher and a few falling cars, but this film is beyond lackluster overall.

In all fairness, this is Frigerio's first feature film, but something in the script went missing somewhere along the way (and so did this reviewer's attention). Thankfully, there is no dubbing, and most filmmaking elements e.g. camera work and lighting are okay. There is atmosphere here. However, the film's score is atrocious: "the soundtrack simply drones in the background," as noticed by a review at Home Cinema. The characters act unbelievably stupidly. Three friends disappear and then one is found. Would anyone then leave this found character two minutes later? Very little makes sense in this terrible film.

Unsurprisingly, Wreckage has not secured North American distribution and here is one vote that it never does. Horror films like this, or was this comedy?, do not deserve fans' attention or the scorn of this reviewer's poison laced pen. Skip this one wherever it plays, as Wreckage moves into the top five of 28DLA's Worst Horror Films of 2011. They capture an escaped convict and let him ride in the back of the squad car without handcuffs, how ridiculous.

Overall: 5 out of 10 (this is the lowest score a film can receive at 28DLA, as the filmmaking elements of lighting, sound and directing were all achieved, what a dismal film).

*the recently released (VOD) Tucker & Dale vs Evil is recommended over this film. T&DVE knows how to use genre to entertain.

WonderPhil Productions is a film marketer based in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Their latest title is Rancid, a film from director Alastair Orr (The Unforgiving). This is a sci-fi thriller that puts four test subjects in a perilous situation. A corporation is testing a new drug, which accidently or intentionally (it is not explained) turns some of the participants into blood craving monsters. The experiment breaks down, while hired guns try to regain control. The soundtrack heightens the tension, with Rancid setting itself up to be on this reviewer's must-see list.

Rancid stars Brandan Auret of District 9, Ryan Macquet (One Way) and Christien Le Roux. This is an early preview of a film whose major crux involves the players' "hidden truths" (WonderPhil) or reason for signing up for the project. They must be desperate. As well, there is mention of a "pregnant intruder," which needs more background to be discussed. Finally, the corporation's reason for hosting this dangerous experiment are mysterious. What is the purpose of trial B-15? Hopefully, WonderPhil Productions releases more info' on these story elements for a film that, so far, looks truly excellent. Dead Rising 2: Off the Record and Frank West's Return: "Sandbox" Mode and Critique

Capcom will be releasing Dead Rising 2: Off the Record October 11, 2011 via a downloadable copy or purchase. This time the destruction of Fortune City is given a different perspective as photojournalist Frank West replaces Chuck Greene (Peter Flemming). The photographic elements of the first game return, as well as a "Sandbox" mode, which allows players to test their undead killing might. As well, there will be drinking contests and money to be earned, along with additional prestige points.

Capcom has said of this upcoming release: "players can explore the casinos, restaurants, malls and new Uranus Zone that comprise Fortune City without the obstacle of time." Based on the trailer for "Sandbox" mode this is not entirely true, as players must dismember a specific amount of zombies to receive bronze, silver and gold medals. From this game players perspective, Dead Rising 2 added in spectacular graphics and a huge assortment of weapons. However, the sequel seemed far too repetitive to the original game e.g. rescuing survivors, killing thousands of zombies, similar achievements. The increased survivor artificial intelligence was a nice addition, but this title needed more challenges rather than more of the same. Hopefully, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, the sixth game in the franchise, will offer players something unique for fans, who deserve the challenges of the original. The trailer for "Sandbox" mode is below.

Release Date: October 11, 2011

Developers: Capcom.

*additions to this title include: new missions, new enemies, new combo-weapons, a brand new Fortune City attraction to explore, enhancements to the save system and the co-op experience.

Roads Less Traveled: The Plan and the Popularity of Undead Fiction

Permuted Press is no stranger to zombie fiction. Recently, they released Craig DiLouie's The Infection and Tony Faville's Kings of the Dead. Now, there is a new horror king, or queen on the undead literature scene and her name is C. Delaney. Her first novel for this horror publisher is called Roads Less Traveled: The Plan. This is the first novel in a trilogy and the plot follows a group of friends in a zombie apocalypse. Friends separate, a stronghold falls and as the saying goes: "best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry" (Steinbeck). This latest zombie styled novel released August 24th.

As well, there seems to be a growing resurgence in the zombie fiction genres, with dozens of novels released in this style over the latest several years. Most horror fans have heard of Max Brooks' zombie apocalyptic novels, but the list truly is huge. J. L. Bourne's set of novels, including Day by Day Armageddon, have received a large following and so has Jonathan Maberry, with Dead of Night one of his latest. David Wellington's Monster Island is remarkable and fans of fiction truly have a wide range of choices in this genre. Fans are in the millions and so are sales figures; so what is your favourite? Have a look at the release details for C. Delaney's horrifying release below.

Release Date: August 24th (Paperback).

Grizzly Flats and Believing the Unbelievable: A Movie Review

*full disclosure: a screener of this film was provided by director Anthony Frankhauser.

Director: Anthony Fankhauser.

Writers: Joe Benkis and Anthony Fankhauser.

Grizzly Flats was previously called Shadow People and this film stars Danielle De Luca (Necrosis), Judd Nelson (The Breakfast Club), Maggie VandenBerghe (Hierarchy) and Ryan Karloff. These actors and characters inhabit a surreal world, which is inhabited by weird shapes and baby shaped gourds. There are elements of the strangeness here and the film makes some connections with the hallucinogenic properties of certain drugs. Not really a pro-drug film and not real an anti-drug film, Grizzly Flats is an interesting look at a bizarre world, not seen by this reviewer before.

Karloff plays Sylvain, a man with a portal to another dimension. Somehow this part time scientist has altered reality with help from a wood burning stove, vacuum tubes and air hoses. This critic needs to make one of these. Once the machine is working, strange human-like and invisible shapes begin to emerge in the backyard, in Sylvain's bed and at his neighbours' meth producing lab. Then, the film comes out of left field with a gourd-like baby, whose purpose is still befuddling this film watcher. A neighbourly feud is brought to a slow simmer and then into full out warfare, as Sylvain faces enemies from all sides.

Anthony Fankhauser seems to be making some sort of message about hard drugs, but the signals are not really clear. The shadow people are most often seen under the influence of methamphetamine. However, a Pastor (Christian Gantt) also sees these images and he soon runs away like a raving monkey. Fankhauser's focus seems to be on the bizarre, where anything can happen and does.

This director also seems to take some of his influences from Lars Von Trier (Melancholia). Because the film does not offer a purpose, nor an explanation. Instead, the film tries to unsettle the viewer, while sometimes offering the comedic. Painting the gourd baby's face with features had this reviewer laughing for a few minutes, especially at the mother's response. As well, Grizzly Flats takes unexpected turns. When one thinks it will zig left, it goes right, or down, or up. The film is unpredictable, because it is much like an experiment. The clinical results are not conclusive, but the film is enjoyable overall.

Currently, Grizzly Flats has not secured distribution to markets, so a release date cannot be announced here. However, fans of David Lynch or Von Trier might like this smaller film, which is "a truly...independent motion picture" (Fankhauser). Testing and questioning reality, this film stays closer to the comedic rather than the serious tones of directors mentioned above. See this one, hopefully soon, at a film festival near you.

Surrealistic/impressionistic: 7.5 (enjoyed these aspects).
Writing/story/plot/sub-plot: 7 (linear, did not understand some of the sub-plots, but that is likely the point).

Overall: 7.25 out of 10.

The Woman and Feral People: An Unbelievable Cinematic Truth

The Woman has generated some controversy based on its misogynistic tones and scenes of torture. Early reviews from major news sources have called the film "an hour and a half of brutal misogyny" (Reporter) and "devoid of wit, flair and thematic focus" (Variety). However, most critics agree that the film is out to shock and there is often an audience for films that will push boundaries. The Woman will premiere in the United Kingdom August 27th and North America October 14th.

Part of the premise for The Woman is this focus on a feral person captured in the wild. Strangely, this is not an uncommon occurrence, with hundreds of stories of feral people being found in jungles and forests locally and abroad. Recently, there was a report of a Cambodian woman found malnourished and partially naked in Rattanakiri Prov. (2007). Her speech was imparied and her ability to socialize was diminished. Many found feral children and adults are unable to learn or relearn language because of abuse, mental deprivation and/or mental impairments. As well, stories of feral people are often fabricated; yet, there is a great deal of truth found in these stories and in the almost unbelievable premise of The Woman. The latest United Kingdom poster for the film is shown here, North American theatre dates are below, along with the film's latest disturbing trailer.

Release Date: October 14th, 2011 (Limited Release, North America).

Director: Lucky McKee.

Writers: Jack Ketchum and Lucky McKee.

Producers: Andrew van den Houten, Robert Tonino, Josh Garrell, Elaine Marie Gibson, Robert D. Krzykowski, Frank Olsen, Lluis Fe Perez, and Loren Semmens.

Cast: Sean Bridgers, Pollyanna McIntosh, Angela Bettis, Carlee Baker, Shana Barry, Marcia Bennett, Lauren Ashley Carter, Chris Krzykowski, Alexa Marcigliano, Pollyanna McIntosh, Shyla Molhusen, Tommy Nelson, Frank Olsen, Lauren Petre, and Zach Rand.

Rage Shows the Struggle to Survive in this Latest Gameplay Trailer ("Gearhead Vault")

id Software continues to grow a following for their upcoming sci-fi, multi-platform and digital game Rage. Their latest title uses the id Tech 5 Engine and this is the first id Software title to do so. In the game, players awaken from a cryo-genic sleep, or ARK to a world transformed by a devastating meteorite. Much of Earth's inhabitants are lost, except for those buried deep below in ARKs or hidden in caves. Humanity, in the game, has gravitated to the few sources of life including oases and watering holes.

Now, another gameplay trailer has become available for Rage, titled "Gearhead Vault." The Gearheads are a clan within the game, who support themselves through scavenging and mechanics. The gameplay reveals an in-game mission which requires players to locate and confiscate a supply of plutonium feltrite. This is a metal compound, of sorts. In the clip, the player must deal with several Gearhead clan members with remote sentries, spider bots, shotgun shells and grenade shrapnel. The trailer is very violent and rated mature, just like the game itself. Have a look at the video below and at a few other informative tidbits on the game, before the October 4th release.

Release Date: October 4th, 2011 (PC, PS3, X-Box).

Developers: id Software.

Publishers: Bethesda and Zenimax Media Inc.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Being Wiser than Most Men: A Movie Review

Director: Rupert Wyatt.

Writers: Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Pierre Boulle.

A lot has changed since the first Planet of the Apes film in 1968. Make-up effects have been substituted with CGI and Charles Heston is no longer a staple of these films. Instead, James Franco stars as Will Rodman, a scientist dabbling in a cure for Alzheimer's. The result is a more intelligent ape, who becomes the dominant species in this entertaining prequel. Released August 5th in theatres and still going strong, Rise of the Planet of the Apes is one part drama, one part science ficiton and one part thriller. This reviewer wishes there were more thrills early, but this film does not disappoint despite a foible or two.

Rodman is experimenting with chimpanzees in a sterile, privately owned lab. This scientist is using synaptogenesis to fight the degenerative progression of Alzheimer's. A secondary motivation, his confused father, is the impetus under which Rodman works. However, other, more nefarious characters hope to exploit the experimental drug ALZ-112 and the later ALZ-113 for profit, as a cure to Alzheimer's would surely bring in the big dollars. Things go wrong. One of the experimentees is brought out of the lab and into the human population. His name is Caesar (Andy Serkis) and he has a plan for ape, orangutan, and chimpanzee world domination. They each receive mental enhancements, thanks to ALZ-113. Caesar's name is a signal of what is to come e.g. leadership, expansion.

Franco (127 Hours) is generally a great actor, but here he only stands out in the final frames as a sympathetic friend to Caesar. He is not completely believable as a genetic scientist. As well, John Lithgow, as Charles, does not command the screen like he used to. Instead, the monkeys steal the show, with Andy Serkis forefront. It must be hard for the other actors to stand up against CGI enhancements, which are at the core of the film. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is just not as dramatic as it could be early, nor as tense as it should be late.

Yet, this is an entertaining film through and through, despite a cold reception by most critics e.g. Mick LaSalle ("The San Francisco Chronicle"). As well, this film really sets the stage for the many other films including the aforementioned Planet of the Apes, Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) and many others. There is mention of astronaut George Taylor's (Charleton Heston, Mark Wahlberg) fated voyage to the planet Mars, in newspaper clippings and video footage. As well, the iconic Statue of Liberty, seen buried in the previous films, is held by a scheminig Caesar as a toy. There are many lines of dialogue from Planet of the Apes: "get your stinking paws off me you damn dirty ape" and "it's a madhouse!," but this is a film all of its own; there is some intelligence in the development of humankind's demise. Truly an entertaining watch, The Rise of Planet of the Apes is a great summer movie, based on its storytelling, tone and execution.

Still playing in theatres, fans of sci-fi need to check out Rupert Wyatt's (The Escapist) latest film. Full of interesting messages of humankind's teetering superiority, this is a film that will likely be followed up with future sequels. This film incoporates some mediocre acting early and there are some initial slow periods, but this is a film that will stay with you after the credits roll. See this one in theatres to experience the computer enhanced details, for the full powerful effect of the imagery.

Overall: 7.5 out of 10 (the film could have used an edge, but rated PG-13 for kids, Franco could have researched his role a little more, he is good in later shots, this is an enjoyable film overall).

Savage and a Sasquatch Shlocker: A Movie Review

*full disclosure: a screener of this film was provided by MTI Home Video.

Director/writer: Jordan Blum.

Writers: DJ Perry, Lynn Drzick, Nancy Gideon and Jordan Blum.

The creature feature was a genre that found some heights in the '60s. Now, in the 21st Century, this genre seems to often be a rehash of material from the past. Also, unbelievably, there have been dozens of features created which have centered on the Bigfoot aka Sasquatch. From the Legend of Bigfoot (1977) to Sasquatch (2009), there have been Sasquatch-ploitation films which try to entertain, but sometimes fail. The latest addition to the genre is MTI Home Video's Savage, starring Martin Kove (The Karate Kid) and Tony Becker ("Tour of Duty"). It is like an '80s reunion! However, there is little originality here and no reasonable argument to explain the supposed origin of Bigfoot. Instead, Savage is another entry for Worst Horror Film of 2011, here at 28DLA.

The plot breaks down much like an adolescent's imagination. A Bigfoot appears in the local Bear Valley National Park, after a fire is started in the north of the woods. This creature of lore and not of science, begins to terrorize local firefighters, police officers and criminals, traveling through the park. This creature murders most of those he encounters, while looking for an exit from the growing circle of fire. A disbarred scientist and a revenge seeking hunter head out into the local hills to prove Bigfoot's existence. What they find are more and more bodies. The body count increases while the attention diminishes.

Many of the scenes are held for too long, the early acting is atrocious, the story is completely unbelievable and there is simply no tension in the film. Also, why does Bigfoot change from a 6' skinny little thing to an 8' behemoth? The alarm bells were going off early in this reviewer's head along the lines of: here is another schlocker, this film is beyond boring and the tried and true: when is this film going to be over? None of these thoughts give the film's mediocrity credit. Also, why were the issues of greedy capitalism not incorporated throughout the film, instead of tacked on in one scene and in the ending? Why was the finale so anti-climactic and why is this film making this critic so angry? Maybe Bigfoot is not the only savage in the room.

This is the first production from Fearmakers Studios and director Blum. So, hopefully their films improve from here. As they say: there is no place to go but up. The positives for the film include the good (not great) acting from the main characters, the rubber suit for the beast looks almost lifelike and the inclusion of a diverse set of sub plots makes the film almost tolerable. However, there are many drawbacks here; the biggest drawback is Savage's lack of excitement, tension and horror. There are no scares to be had in the Savage, which is more furball than roaming terror.

Writing/story/plot: 5 (very weak storytelling, characters okay).
Continuity/editing: 7 (no major errors).
Conclusion/denouement: 5 (a weak late attempt at a message of expansion vs. the pastoral).

Overall: 5.4 (best suited for burgeoning adolescents, not adults).

*this title releases on DVD September 20th. Special features include upcoming trailers.

The Woman in Black Debuts a Ghostly Poster: United Kingdom Graphic and the Gothic Novel

The Woman in Black was at first a novel from author Susan Hill, developed in 1983. This source material has gone on to stage and play, while becoming one of the longest running performances in the United Kingdom. The plot involves an illegitimate son, tragic accidents and a young solicitor trying to tie up some loose ends on a dilapidated estate. Apparently, a ghost still haunts the estate searching for her missing son. Then, tragedy strikes Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe).

The Woman in Black has many of the elements of gothic fiction, or more specifically the terror gothic. Many novels of this era, developed in the 19th Century, involve run down and isolated locations inhabited by ghosts, spirits or something evil. The trailer below shows a haunting ghost, a house surrounded by marshes, while the first United Kingdom film poster also shows elements of the gothic e.g. an apparition. The purpose of this style of literature was to shock, or terrify the reader. However, this genre also tried to provide legitimate reasons for hauntings or the supernatural, while creating thrills through exploration of the unknown. So, there is this shift in literature from superstition towards more meaningful truths. Now, this film lover is interested in reading Hill's novel and hopefully horror fans will enjoy this preview of United Kingdom poster, which is full of mist and looming terror. More details on the film are below (North American Trailer).

Release Date: February 3rd, 2012 (Theatres).

Director: James Watkins.

Writer: Jane Goldman and Susan Hill.

Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Janet McTeer, Ciaran Hinds, Liz White, Alisa Khazanova, Tim McMullan, Roger Allam, Daniel Cerqueira, Shaun Dooley, Mary Stockley, Cathy Sara, David Burke, Victor McGuire, and Lucy May Barker.
