The Walking Dead Shopping Guide for the Zombie Fan in All of Us

Zombies and mass consumerism go hand-in-hand, and these days, "The Walking Dead" is the de-facto standard. The television series is adapted from the comic book of the same name by Robert Kirkman, where Deputy Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) awakens to an apocalyptic world. The premise is all about the survival of the species as they are shoved back into place as hunter-gatherers.

With what’s left of civilization at stake, fortunately for the hungry zombie consumer there’s plenty to look at for the holiday season. The only creature that has to worry about its survival during the holidays is the turkey. Everything else has a faster time to replenish itself (unless, where noted):

"The Walking Dead, Volume 1"

The comic book that started it all is reprinted in hardcover format, which features the first 12 issues. Up to seven volumes are available in this format (the latest covering #73-84), and fifteen volumes (volume 15 is due in stores Dec 27, covering issues #85-90) in softcover editions.

"The Walking Dead" Season One Special Edition Blu-ray

High definition zombies! Oh my… The one item that makes this set stand out from the others is the simple little exclusive: a cryptozoic trading card. But there is more to sate the appetite of production hounds interested in knowing what goes on behind the scenes. Brand new features, like “We Are The Walking Dead,” “Digital Decay: The VFX of The Walking Dead,” No More Room In Hell: The Walking Dead Phenomenon,” and “Killer Conversations: Frank Darabont & Greg Nicotero” are among the list of documentaries that are offered.

"The Walking Dead" Action Figures!

Yes, the merchandise engine is in full swing when these articulated figures do the walk (the zombie figures move), make the talk (moan, to be exact), and bite back. They cannot make noises just yet, but can anyone imagine the fun to be had with little pint-sized zombies marching around the Christmas tree? McFarlane Toys have designed these six-inch tall wonders which also includes Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon.

"The Walking Dead" Board Game

Players can take on some fun by emulating the events from the television series. They can either be zombies or the survivors, and the whole goal is to forge alliances in order to survive a romp through the city infested with zombies. Players can go on a zombie-killing spree too, but that is not advised. For 2-4 players. Average playtime is 60 minutes.

"The Walking Dead" Calendar and Trading Cards

No comic book series can truly be called a milestone in pop culture without its own 16-month calendar or 72-card set. Both features images from series one of the television series. And with the calendar, everyone can count down to the man’s final days… but is there such a thing as a Mayan Zombie?

"The Walking Dead" Zombie Busts

Disney’s "The Haunted Mansion" and their staring marble busts have nothing to defend themselves with when KNB EFX Group’s own set of zombie heads goes up against them. These two busts proudly displays the fury of the TV Series favourite two monsters. “Tank Zombie” and “Bicycle Girl” from season one of the TV Series are very much adored.
