The Goon and Progression: New Test Footage with Paul Giamatti and Clancy Brown

The Goon is coming along very nicely as it slowly makes its rounds through the production houses, gets the CGI refinement and hours of required rendering time. Creator Eric Powell has posted a clip of early test footage, which features more dialogue of the star character.

Clancy Brown is the perfect fit for this character. This actor's unmistakably trademark growl gives this animated character the personality that's just right.

Creator: Eric Powell.

Cast: Paul Giamatti and Clancy Brown (not contractually confirmed).

The original teaser trailer for The Goon is here:

The recently released test footage for the film is here:

This movie translation looks promising. "The Goon" was originally a comic book series about a brawler and his side-kick, Franky (Paul Giamatti) going up against supernatural hordes. Powell is directly involved in writing the script, and this product will no doubt be a labour of love, rather than just another Hollywood style film cashing in.

"The Goon" first appeared under the Avatar Press imprint, before moving over to Albatross Exploding Funny Books due to creative differences. Dark Horse Comics eventually picked up Powell's works, and has been regularly publishing stories of this dynamic duo of the undead world ever since.
