The Darkest Hours Shows Menacing Aliens in this First Trailer

Summit Entertainment will distribute The Darkest Hour in theatres later this year (December 23rd). This is a film that, as part of a group, seems to be selling xenophobia to theatre goers. Gone are the days of a friendly E.T.: The Extraterrestrial (1983). Instead, film producers are more interested in creating menacing alien invaders e.g. Skyline, Battle: Los Angeles. Apparently fear sells better than friendliness, as ticket sales tell us.

Generalizations aside, the first trailer for The Darkest Hour deals with ball lightning and the aforementioned alien invaders. These other worldly beings are invisible, except when dismantling atoms via lightning strike. Have a look at the sci-fi thrills inside and remember to greet any real aliens with a gun, rather than an open hand.
