Lightning Entertainment is Bringing Drug Outlaws to Cannes '11 with this Clip for El Narco

Formerly named the devilish El Infierno or The Hell, Lightning Entertainment has renamed this crime thriller to El Narco, aka The Drug Dealer. Recently completed, El Narco is a real heartwarming story of Benny (Damian Alcazar) and returning to his home town, in Mexico. In reality, his welcome involves gunfire, violence and his partially forced entry into the illicit drug export business. Here, events go from bad to worse and shortly, Benny is on the run from local authorities and into the deep pockets of the local crime lords.

El Narco was recently shown in Cannes 2011 (Lightning) and hopefully, good news will return from this locale, as a North American release date has not been announced so far. For now, watch the comedic, yet sinister hijinks of Benny and his criminal underlings in the exciting reel below.

The synopsis for El Narco is here:

"Drugs, guns, violence, death: Mexico today is a world where ruthless cartels operate beyond the reach of the law, and where a bloody fate awaits if you don't watch your step. Deported to Mexico after 20 years as an illegal in the USA, Benny Garcia returns to the tranquility he left behind in his sleepy rural town...or so he thinks. Much has changed, and opportunities to earn an honest living are few.

With limited options before him, "El Benny" reluctantly joins his boyhood friend working for the merciless Don Jose and the Reyes gang. As Benny gets swept away in the current of corruption and endless bloodshed, he is also blinded by the rewards from the narcotics trade: riches, women, and power. But El Benny knows the life of a "Narco" has no future. Jealousy, greed, and betrayal in the Reyes gang threaten to topple Benny's empire, and he knows there is only one way out, on a path paved with death and destruction. Benny's rags to riches rise is about to take a violent detour" (Lightning Entertainment).

Completion Year: 2011.
