Enjoy Two Prequels for Jim Mickle's Vampire Dystopia Stake Land Here!

IFC Midnight is partnering with MPI Media Group to release director Jim Mickle's Stake Land to horror audiences April 22nd. This film has already won the Midnight Madness Audience Award at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival (Dark Sky) and fans will not have to wait long to watch an entire world engulfed by vampires, with both a theatrical and VOD rental available in two short weeks.

Also announced today, there are two short videos of 4-5 minutes for Stake Land now available at the Apple Trailer website. Both clips are prequels to the film (Quiet Earth) and you can enjoy them at the link below.

The synopsis for Stake Land is here:

"America is a lost nation. When an epidemic of vampirism strikes, humans find themselves on the run from vicious, feral beasts. Cities are tombs and survivors cling together in rural pockets, fearful of nightfall. When his family is slaughtered, young Martin (Connor Paolo) is taken under the wing of a grizzled, wayward hunter (Nick Damici) whose new prey are the undead. Simply known as Mister, the vampire stalker takes Martin on a journey through the locked-down towns of America's heartland, searching for a better place while taking down any bloodsuckers that cross their path.

Along the way they recruit fellow travellers, including a nun (Kelly McGillis) who is caught in a crisis of faith when her followers turn into ravenous beasts. This ragtag family unit cautiously moves north, avoiding major thoroughfares that have been seized by The Brethren, a fundamentalist militia headed by Jebedia Loven (Michael Cerveris) that interprets the plague as the Lord's work (Dark Sky Films).

Release Date: April 22nd, 2011 (Limited Theatrical, VOD).

Director: Jim Mickle.

Writer: Nick Damici, and Jim Mickle.

Cast: Danielle Harris, Nick Damici, Connor Paolo, Michael Cerveris, Marianne Hagan, Traci Hovel, Sean Nelson, and Kelly Mcgillis.
