The Wasteland Promises an Apocalypse in this Feature Trailer

Modus Operandi Pictures is developing a new post-apocalyptic feature, titled Wasteland. The vision of the Wasteland sees a world with less than a 100 million occupants. Populations have been wiped out by disease, hunger and fighting over the last scraps of food. The picture is reminiscent of the apocalyptic pictures of the '70s and '80s, where nuclear war was a daily worry (and possibly stills is).

These previous eras created dozens of films that dealt with a future wasteland, like: The Day After, The Road Warrior, and earlier with Logan's Run (1976). This style of film has recently been recreated with The Road (2009) and Book of Eli (2010). There seems to be a focus on apocalyptic settings by filmmaker, as apocalyptic themes taken directly from several major religions e.g. Judaism and Christianity. Returning to the present, have a look at some of the costumes settings and themes from the Wasteland and compare the styles of this film with some earlier works. A trailer is below.

The synopsis for the Wasteland is here:

"Black Sunday has arrived. The chemicals we've pumped into our environment has caused our ecosystem to fail and collapse. The land is now barren, livestock brought to near extinction and the population has fallen to less than a hundred million.

A group of religious zealots, led by the enigmatic Caine (Derrel Maury), invade the home of Keo Tanaka ( Garret T. Sato) and kidnap his son. Tanaka endures seventeen years of cannibal infested towns, teeming with mutants, scavengers and other horrors that lie beneath the sandy wasteland. Now the time has come to exact revenge!" (Wasteland).
