Deon Taylor's February 1st, 2011 DVD and Blu-Ray Release of Chain Letter is Terrorless?

Image Entertainment will be releasing Deon Taylor's repetitive horror flick Chain Letter on DVD and Blu-Ray February 1st. An unrated version of the film will also be made available for viewers, on this date. Back in February of this year, this reviewer predicted that this film would be a flop (here). To use the latest technological device as the main substance of your plot will start sounding your film's death knell. The reviews are proving this premonition true.

Respected reviewer Scott Weinberg at Fearnet.com says of Chain Letter: "thus [the beginning of Chain Letter] began the inception of one of the silliest, stupidest, and most overtly inept copycat horror flicks in recent memory." A review by Michael Gingold also brings tales of non-terror: "Chain Letter's negligible terror" (Fangoria). It seems even the distributor (Image) did not want to support the title, as the release will only host a trailer as a special feature. More non-terror is below.

The skinny on the film:

"Six high school friends are bound together again by a sinister chain letter passing into their lives through e-mails and text messages. If the deadly letter isn’t passed on, the recipient faces a grisly, unexpected death – and nothing can stop it. As time runs out and the deadly letter’s rules become more challenging, the survivors must untangle the chilling secret – or die trying. Featuring Nikki Reed (The Twilight Saga), Betsy Russell (the Saw series), and Michael J. Pagan ("CSI: Miami")" (Image).

Release Date: February 1st (DVD, Blu-Ray, Unrated).

Director: Deon Taylor.

Cast: Nikki Reed, Keith David, Brad Dourif, Betsy Russell, Michael J. Pagan, Ling Bai
