Uwe Boll Creates Controversy Again in his Obese-ploitation Film Blubberella

Uwe Boll has managed to shock and offend again in his obese-ploitation film Blubberella. Turning World War II into a comedy seems to be distasteful, but filmmaker Roberto Benigni found some laughs with this subject in his award winning film Life is Beautiful. However, Blubberella is not likely to win many awards as an "overweight woman [uses] dual swords...against anyone who make fun of her" (Quiet). Here katanas seem to be loaves of French bread, as seen in the trailer below.

One really needs to wonder what Boll is doing some days. Sometimes he comes up with an excellent commentary on the prevalence of North American violence in Rampage. Then, he turns a video game into a franchise e.g. Bloodrayne and Alone in the Dark. His inconsistency is what draws questions. So, please Boll stick to making films with relevant social commentaries like Darfur and leave the easily targeted overweight women alone.

The synopsis for Blubberella:

"An action comedy centered on an overweight woman whose footsteps cause explosions and whose dual swords are used against anyone who makes fun of her" (IMDb).

Release Date: 2011.

Director/writer: Uwe Boll.

Cast: Michael Pare, Lindsay Hollister and Brendan Fletcher.
