Anthony Hopkins Stars in this Trailer for The Rite

There have been several exorcism themed films in the last few years including: The Last Exorcism, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and a recent re-release of the original The Exorcist on Blu-Ray. This latest possession themed thriller will star Anthony Hopkins as a devout priest, who specializes in demons and their unfortunate hosts. The Rite claims to be based on true events and Warner Bros. will release this title in theatres throughout 2011. This genre has no lack of material as fans seek images and films dedicated to the supernatural for entertainment. 2011 is already proving that the spiritual has fans interested and those with a curiousity for the devilish can check out the first trailer for The Rite below.

The synopsis for The Rite is here:

"Inspired by true events, follows a skeptical seminary student Michael (Colin O'Donoghue) who reluctantly attends an exorcism school at the Vatican. While there, he meets an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas, who introduces him to a darker side of his faith" (Shock).

Release Date: January 28th, 2011 (Theatrical).
