Early Reviews: "Passchendaele hearkens back to war films of decades past, when patriotism, valour and integrity were presented without irony. (Rottentomatoes.com)"

Passchendaele is both a romantic piece and an accurate portrayal of history. With two different genres "Passchendaele," is sure to appeal to a large audience as well as inciting strong emotions in most viewers. While serving to honour the deaths and sacrifices of Canadian troops in "Passchendaele," Paul Gross; the writer, director and main lead adds an anti-war feel to this World War I epic (The Star).

With the success of Passchendaele many Canadian and other viewers may not realize that this one battle helped break Canada away from British domination, and set the country on its own nationalist path. Unfortunatly, 5000 Canadian soldiers lost their lives in the process.

This film is sure to rouse feelings of pride in Canadians while entertaining many others. Paul Gross' focus on realism and stories of Canadian heritage continue to draw audiences to most of his films. With the success of "Men with Brooms," and a positive reception at the 33rd Toronto Film Festival "Passchendaele," is sure to do well in theatres despite a limited release. Check out "Passchendaele," this November 11, 2008 in most major Canadian cities.
